ANIL THOMAS
About Anil - A Note.

I didn’t create this space to teach psychology in the conventional sense, but to invite a more honest and lived relationship with it. What began as sharing ideas slowly grew into something quieter and more meaningful, a space for reflection, inquiry, and understanding that feels personal, not just intellectual.
Over the years, through my work with NLP and Gestalt, I began noticing that people often understand concepts intellectually, yet still struggle with recurring patterns, emotions, relationships, or inner conflicts. What creates change is not only knowledge, but awareness, the ability to notice what is happening in the moment and understand ourselves more honestly.
NLP helped me understand how language, perception, behaviour, and internal patterns shape the way we experience life. Gestalt brought me closer to presence, awareness, and the importance of staying with what is real rather than immediately trying to analyse or fix it.
The Lecture Series grew from bringing these understandings together.
It was created as a reflective learning space where people could explore psychology through dialogue, observation, and lived experience. Rather than offering quick answers, the sessions encourage people to pause, notice patterns, question familiar ways of thinking, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others.
More than anything, this space exists to make psychology feel real, applicable, and deeply connected to everyday human experience.

Learning To Stay With What Is Real
My journey with Dick McHugh shaped my understanding of Gestalt in a way that was both grounding and transformative. What struck me most about him was his simplicity. There was no need to make the work appear complicated or intellectual for its own sake. He brought attention back to experience, to what was present, immediate, and real.
Being around him taught me that awareness is not something forced. It emerges when we stop trying to escape what we feel and begin to notice it with honesty and curiosity.
Dick had a way of slowing the process down. He would often remain with a moment longer than most people are comfortable with, allowing something deeper to surface naturally rather than pushing toward conclusions. In many ways, that changed how I understood both psychology and human connection.
What I learned through those experiences continues to influence the spaces I create today. The emphasis was never only on “fixing” something, but on understanding it fully, seeing the pattern clearly, and allowing awareness itself to become part of the movement toward change.
Those teachings continue to stay with me, not only in professional practice, but in the quieter ways I listen, observe, and relate to people every day.

A Presence That Changed The Way I Understood People
When I first encountered Judy’s work, what stayed with me wasn’t simply the theory or the structure of the process. It was the way she could sit with another human being, fully present, attentive, and unafraid of what emerged in the moment.
There was a certain honesty in the space she created. Nothing felt performative or rehearsed. She had the ability to notice the smallest shifts in expression, silence, hesitation, and emotion, and somehow bring attention to them in a way that felt deeply human rather than clinical.
Through her, I began to understand that real psychological work is often less about analysing people from a distance and more about learning how to stay present with what is unfolding, both within ourselves and within others.
What I carried forward from those experiences was not just technique, but a way of relating. A reminder that awareness grows in spaces where people feel seen, heard, and met without judgement.
Even now, many of the conversations, observations, and moments shared in those spaces continue to influence the way I teach, listen, and hold dialogue within this work.
